Lessons From a Dream
My grandfather passed away in 2011, and I was lucky enough to be paid a visit from him in a dream I had, and I have not forgotten his message.
It was a dream with a simple premise: I was out late and he had been sitting on the porch waiting for me. I returned later than I said I would and, by the time I did return, he simply was too tired and unable to wait for me any longer. He had run out of energy and could no longer engage, so he went to bed.
He was waiting for me and I did not honor that. It is no judgement, just the opportunity to realize how the energy others put into us is not an infinite resource and eventually they will run out. In dwelling on this dream, these lessons have been at the forefront of my mind:
is it possible there is someone “waiting up” for me and I am not even noticing? Who is it? What do I want to do with this information, if anything?
who am I “ waiting up” for who does not seem to realize the energy I am using for them? What would it feel like to stop “waiting up” for them?
I keep these questions in mind daily. I am working on being more attuned to who I put my energy into and who may be putting their energy into me without me even noticing. This is one of many things I know because I learned it in a dream. We can learn a lot from our dreams, and I encourage you to pay attention to what yours may be trying to teach you.
